All port users are advised of the following Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) requirements.

All commercial vessels greater than 8 metres in length, carrying more than 6 persons, or engaged in commercial diving operations within Dampier Port Limits are required to have a Class A or Class B Automatic Identification System (AIS) fitted and operating.

All commercial vessels and barges greater than 35 metres LOA must continuously transmit AIS whilst within Dampier Port Limits, irrespective of whether the vessel is underway, at anchor, secured alongside, or moored.

This requirement applies to both SOLAS and non-SOLAS vessels.

Commercial vessels unable to maintain operational AIS must immediately notify Dampier Vessel Traffic Service (VTS), provide the reason for non-compliance, and advise when compliance can be achieved. Exemptions may be granted by the Harbour
Master on a case-by-case basis.
