MSC Francesca reportedly had damage to its hull and bridge and was instructed to drop anchor, after attempting to transit Strait of Hormuz on 22 Apr 2026. The vessel was stopped by & Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps statement said vessel was seized.

Fully cellular containership MSC Francesca, IMO: 9401116, reportedly sustained damage to its hull and bridge and was instructed to drop anchor, after attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz, today.

The vessel subsequently stopped dead in the water. An Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps statement said that MSC Francesca was seized because it did not have authorisation to pass through the Strait and was operating with its AIS system turned off, causing a risk to navigational safety.

The statement added that the vessel was being directed towards Iran.
