MARITIME SUTRA

OCIMF has launched a Focused Inspection Campaign (FIC) within the SIRE 2.0 tanker inspection programme, reinforcing maritime security readiness across the global tanker fleet.

This campaign, which began on 1 October 2025 and will run for a minimum of six months, comes in response to increasing geopolitical tensions, regional conflicts, and evolving security regulations that affect crew welfare, safety, and operational continuity.

The FIC focuses on ship staff familiarity with company procedures and vessel hardening plans, as well as their understanding of SIRE 2.0 question 7.2.1 – Ship hardening and access control. Inspectors will address this question during every SIRE 2.0 inspection throughout the campaign period, regardless of where the vessel operates.

Through this initiative, OCIMF aims to ensure that Masters and crew can effectively apply company procedures for ship hardening when operating in areas of increased maritime threat, and that relevant plans and equipment are both effective and well-maintained.

An interim review will take place in February 2026, after which OCIMF will share preliminary findings and any additional guidance.
