The long awaited release of the new Offshore Vessel Inspection Questionnaire (OVIQ) and Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) templates is on cards now. Earlier OVIQ (v.2) release was planned for 15th September 2014 however due some issues it was not released and now as per information from OCIMF, it is set to release on 1 July 2015.  OVID (Offshore Vessel Inspection Database) was conceived to meet the specific needs of the oil companies; to provide an objective inspection tool, accredited inspectors, transparent inspection reports and a database accessible to all OVID members. OVID will be developed over a number of years to address issues relating to vessel and technical management to provide integrated information and strengthen the assurance data available for risk assessment.

Although it is claimed by OCIMF that it will reduce the nos of inspections offshore vessels undergo but at first intance it has added one inspection based on OVIQ as CMID is already having similar regime of offshore vessel inspection.
