Today, the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is publishing an “Introduction to the Office of Foreign Assets Control” guide, to provide U.S and foreign persons a foundational understanding of how OFAC sanctions work and how to comply with them, including how to request a license from OFAC, how persons may be removed from an OFAC sanctions list, and how OFAC enforces its sanctions.

This guidance is intended as a resource the public can use to better understand OFAC’s expectations and thereby continue strengthening the effectiveness of OFAC sanctions.
