MARITIME SUTRA

Sea of Maritime Insights

The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) issued Marine Safety Advisory about the voluntary and anonymous survey launched by the Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN) on maritime Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) interference.

GNSS interference refers to both GNSS jamming (the blocking of GNSS signals) and GNSS spoofing (the broadcasting of fake GNSS signals to make a GNSS receiver calculate an incorrect position and/or time).

The purpose of gathering and processing this data is to produce statistics, graphs, and other processed information for the RIN Maritime GNSS Interference Report. This report may be used to create future shipping industry guidance. Please refer to the link above for additional information.
