We are pleased to announce that the Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control for West and Central African Region (Abuja MoU), under the leadership of Secretary General Captain Sunday M. Umoren, has officially signed a data-sharing Agreement with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) during the ongoing III 11 session in London.
The signing ceremony was officiated by IMO Secretary-General Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, alongside the following MoUs:
- Tokyo MoU, led by Mr. Kubota Hideo, Secretary of the Tokyo MoU Secretariat.
- Indian Ocean MoU, represented by Mr. Achintya B. Dutta, Secretary General of IOMoU.
A Milestone in Global Maritime Cooperation
This agreement represents a landmark step towards improving data harmonization and cooperation between regional port State control regimes and IMO.
- Abuja MoU, Tokyo MoU, and Indian Ocean MoU have committed to enhanced port State control collaboration and data exchange with IMO.
- Additional MoUs are expected to sign on in the forthcoming period, further strengthening global maritime safety and environmental protection efforts.
