Suezmax Tanker Vilamoura , IMO 9529293 had an explosion & water ingress in engine room while navigating approx 80nm off coast of Libya on 27 Jun 2025. Tug Boka Summit towing vessel to Peloponnese, Greece for STS transfer of oil cargo. No injuries/pollution were reported.

Crude oil tanker Vilamoura (IMO: 9529293, 81818 gt, built 2011), en route from Zueitina with approximately one million barrels of crude oil, experienced an explosion and water ingress in the engine room while navigating approximately 80 nautical miles off the coast of Libya on Jun 27. The vessel was rendered disabled due to the engine room blast, as confirmed by the operator. Tug Boka Summit rendezvoused with Vilamoura near Benghazi on the afternoon of Jun 28, and the vessel is currently under tow to the Peloponnese region of Greece for ship-to-ship transfer of the oil cargo, with ETA Jul 2. Divers are to assess the damage and investigate the cause of the incident. The operator, TMS Tankers, stated that while the blast caused a large breach, there were no injuries or pollution. The operator distanced itself from speculation that the vessel had been targeted by saboteurs
