As per X Post from Indian Navy, Oil Tanker Yi Cheng 6 (IMO: 1067471) en route from Kandla, India to Shinas, Oman, experienced a major fire in its engine room and a total power failure while transiting in gulf of oman on Jun 28.

The vessel had 14 crew members of Indian origin. Responding swiftly to a distress call, the Indian Navy’s stealth frigate INS Tabar deployed firefighting teams and equipment to the vessel using both its boat and helicopter on Jun 29. The Indian Navy confirmed that all crew members were safe and that the situation was brought under control. Currently, thirteen naval personnel and five crew members from the stricken tanker are involved in firefighting operations, with fire has been controlled.

This operation highlights the Navy’s rapid response capability and its commitment to maritime safety in international waters.
