China’s Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) issued the publications to mitigate potential collision risks between merchant and fishing vessels when navigating in the coastal waters of China:
• Guideline for the Prevention of Collision between Merchant Vessels and Fishing Vessels in Coastal Waters of China; and
• Notice on Strengthening the Prevention of Collisions between Merchant Ships and Fishing Vessels in Coastal Waters of China.
These publications are supplemented by the following (attached) documents issued by Zhejiang MSA:
• Safety Reminder and Notification on Prevention of Collisions Between Merchant Vessels and Fishing Vessels; and
• Safety Reminder List for Preventing Collisions Between Merchant Vessels and Fishing Vessels of Zhejiang MSA.
All vessels bound for Chinese ports or transiting through the coastal waters of China are advised to review the above publications and associated documents to ensure safe navigation in the coastal waters of China.
