The Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) has adopted amendments to the Regulations of 1 July 2014 No. 945 on the carriage of cargoes on Norwegian ships and barges.
A proposal for amendments to the Regulations on the carriage of cargoes on Norwegian ships and barges was circulated for public consultation on 13 October 2025, with a deadline for comments of 15 December 2025. No comments were received in response to the consultation.
The amendments adopted by IMO Resolution MSC.552(108) introduce an additional loading condition designated as “specially suitable compartment, partly filled in way of the hatch opening, with ends untrimmed”.
The amendments permit the carriage of grain in bulk under this additional loading condition, provided that the ship has approved stability calculations demonstrating compliance with the relevant stability requirements of the Grain Code for this condition.
