Liberian Flag issued a Marine Advisory to inform shipowners, operators and Masters of the implementation timeline for the S-100 ECDIS standard, the current status of related international standards development, and the present availability of type-approved equipment.

At its 106th session, held in November 2022, the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted resolution MSC.530(106) on Performance Standards for Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS), which was subsequently revised by resolution MSC.530(106)/Rev.1 to incorporate route exchange functionality.

Resolution MSC.530(106), as revised, establishes the following implementation timeline for S-100 ECDIS:

a) if installed on or after 1 January 2029, conforms to performance standards not inferior to those specified in the annex to the present resolution;

(b) if installed on or after 1 January 2026 but before 1 January 2029, conforms either to performance standards not inferior to those specified in the annex to the present resolution or to performance standards not inferior to those specified in the annex to resolution MSC.232(82);
