Directorate General of Shipping has been regularly in the past years, urging Seafarers to be highly vigilant against fraudulent recruitment schemes. These scammers have been known to often pose as legitimate companies or agents to exploit job seekers, leading to financial loss and potential abandonment in foreign ports.
It has been reported that a DGS approved Maritime Training Institute, ‘R.R. MARINES ACADEMY, JAIPUR’ had indulged in illegal practice of seeking payment for providing jobs onboard ships and thereby defrauded innocent seafarers of huge sums of money. As prima-facie the available evidence points to involvement of the MTI management in the malpractice, the Directorate General of Shipping has initiated an investigation into the matter and until the completion of the investigation the MTI will remain to be suspended from undertaking any courses. This notice is issued for the benefit of the seafarers and limit any further damage.
