Maritime Cook Islands (MCI) has issued restrictions for Cook Islands-registered tankers due to sanctions-related risks associated with Iranian and Venezuelan ports. Effective immediately:
- Restricted Trade: Tankers are prohibited from carrying or trading Iranian or Venezuelan petroleum products, including ship-to-ship (STS) transfers.
- Ports: Includes Iranian and Venezuelan ports, offshore loading/storage facilities, single-point moorings, monobuoys, floating storage units (FSOs), and similar systems.
- Consequences: Any Cook Islands-flagged tanker entering these ports or engaging in Restricted Trade will be deregistered.
