As per Press release from T.C. ISTANBUL GOVERNORSHIP, an alert was received around 17:30 on Wednesday, 19.11.2025, that poisoning occurred on the Panama-flagged tanker named Swanlake, located 2 miles south of the Democracy and Freedoms Island. Upon the alert, Coast Guard, Maritime Police, UMKE, and AFAD CBRN teams were dispatched to the scene.

According to initial findings, in the incident thought to be caused by a leak in the tanker’s cold tank, 1 crew member lost their life, and 2 crew members were poisoned and taken under observation.

Evacuation efforts are ongoing for the other 10 crew members and two injured individuals on the ship, which has a total of 13 Russian citizens as crew.

In the above press release it is mentioned about poisoning which in first impression appears as somethink like food poisioning but its gas poisioning. Enclosed Space accounts for maximum of falality onboard vessels.
