Port Headland issued Marine Safety Bulletin (PH 08/25) on November 14, 2025, announcing the availability of synchronised pilotage routes to enhance Bridge Resource Management (BRM) and navigation safety. These routes, downloadable from the Pilbara Ports website, provide standardised inbound and outbound tracks from all channel entry points to every berth within the port.
The routes are ECDIS-compatible, allowing seamless integration into bridge navigation systems and alignment with Marine Pilot Portable Pilot Units (PPUs). This standardisation improves situational awareness, ensures a common navigational picture, and strengthens BRM practices. Vessel Masters, Owners, and Technical Managers are encouraged to incorporate these routes into their voyage preparation to ensure safe and efficient pilotage operations in the tidally constrained environment of Port Hedland.
