American Club has issued a alert regarding the anchoring in Turkish water which has risk of damage of damaged underwater pipelines, cables and their protective structures.
There is an increased number of damaged underwater pipelines, cables and their protective structures in Turkish waters. Anchors and chains can sever or damage pipelines, power or fiber optic cables and protective mattresses which can lead to costly claims.
Even a suspected case can cost huge to owners which may include but not limited to fines, investigations,UW inspections and tug etc.
The alert also has recommendation for precuationery measures whixh Masters shall take. The precuations include chart, swinging circle and record keeping.
