Liberia Maritime Authority issued Security Bulletin 09-2025 giving the details of drone attack on cargo vessel in Red Sea. As per bulletin Liberian flagged vessels transiting the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and Arabian Sea are to increase their security level to security level 3 and implement all protective measures in their Ship Security Plan. In addition, Liberian flagged vessels should avoid calling ports in Yemen. The decision to transit remains at the discretion of the Company, considering the number of recent targeted attacks on commercial ships with association to Israel by ownership, cargo or port calls by any of the Company’s ships.
On August 31, a cargo vessel was targeted by a missile while drifting in position 23-37.8N 03734.0E approximately 100 nautical miles northwest of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Master reported the bridge watchkeeper sighted an orange flare falling into the water approximately 20 meters to the starboard side of the vessel. Following a thorough onboard inspection, no damage was reported to the vessel and all crew members are safe with no injuries reported, no pollution observed. The vessel was able transit to an inner anchorage and further along its assigned berth under its own power for scheduled operations. The vessel’s AIS terminal remains switched off per the Best Management Practices for the region.
