The Coast Guard’s Office of Investigations and Casualty Analysis recently posted Report of Investigation (ROI) to Marine Casualty Reports (uscg.mil) regarding the presumed loss of life of a 18-year old-passenger onboard the Bahamas flagged, excursion vessel, Blackbeard’s Revenge, while on a sunset cruise tour off the coast of Nassau, Bahamas, May 24, 2023. The passenger jumped overboard which resulted in the passenger whereabouts becoming unknown and the subsequent presumed loss of life. This investigation was conducted by Sector Miami Investigations, U.S. Coast Guard, in cooperation with Portuguese Maritime Accident Investigation and Aeronautical Meteorology Authority Office, Argentina Marine, Inland Water and Lakes Investigation, and National Transportation Safety Bureau.

As a result of this investigation, the Coast Guard issued ten administrative recommendations,  a  Commandant’s final action memorandum (FAM) detailing the Coast Guard response, and actions on each recommendation is included in the ROI.
