IMO Resolution MSC.552(108) introduces an important amendment to the International Grain Code, coming into effect on 1 January 2026. This change formally recognises a previously undefined intermediate loading condition and now requires that ships’ Grain Loading Manuals include the relevant heeling moment values for this scenario.
The Advisory provides a clear and straightforward explanation of why this amendment was made. NCB (National Cargo Bureau) recommends that vessel operators update their Grain Loading Manuals ahead of the enforcement date.
