Supporting the Safe Adoption of Ammonia as a Key Marine Fuel. Ammonia is one of the key alternative fuels expected to support the maritime industry’s journey toward net-zero GHG emissions by 2050.

In February 2025, the IMO released its Interim Guidelines for the Safety of Ships Using Ammonia as Fuel, setting out safety requirements for ammonia-fueled vessels.
