July 25, 2025 , In July, NYK held the 21st NYK Fleet Safety Promotion Conference at its head office (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) and Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, with domestic and international shipowners, ship management companies, and other partners. The conference shared information on NYK’s safety measures and past accident cases, and aimed to foster and improve safety awareness.
The conference is part of the “Remember Naka-no-Se” safety campaign, which is held every year from July 1st for two months, based on the lessons learned from the Diamond Grace oil spill accident in July 1997. All executives, employees, and partners are reaffirming their commitment to safe operation.
Following last year, the conference was held in a hybrid format that combined face-to-face meetings and online meetings, and a total of more than 410 people from 142 companies and from both Japan and overseas participated, actively exchanging opinions.
Domestic and international marine and land-based stakeholders will continue to work together to ensure safe operation, which is the foundation of sustainability management.
