ST KITTS & NEVIS INTERNATIONAL SHIP REGISTRY issued a maritime circular to inform all Maritime Registrars, Ship Owners, Ship Managers and Ship Operators of the mandatory requirement for all seafarers serving onboard a St. Kitts and Nevis flagged vessel to hold a valid Continuous Discharge Certificate Identity Document/Discharge Book (CDC) with immediate effect.
Following consultation with the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, it was identified that CDCs had not been issued to ALL crew members, but only to officers serving onboard St. Kitts and Nevis vessels. Furthermore, the review found that there was no delineation within the legislation between either officers or ratings and that the legislation should apply to all those serving onboard a St. Kitts and Nevis flagged vessel.
In accordance with the legislation, ALL crew members serving onboard a St. Kitts and Nevis flagged vessel, and who have competed the mandatory minimum of prescribed basic safety training, as per the STCW Basic Safety Training (BST), including its such as Sea Survival, Fire Fighting and Elementary First Aid, shall be required to hold and present their CDC when boarding the St. Kitts and Nevis flagged vessel.
