Deficiencies related to Fire Safety, Safety Management Systems, and Lifesaving Appliances were the leading deficiency categories that lead to ships being detained by the U.S. Coast Guard in 2024. The below graphs are excerpts taken from Coast Guard’s 2024 PSC Annual Report showing the top five deficiencies in each category.
