Paris MOU Committee 58th meeting was completed in Malmo on 30th may 2025 as per the press release published on 10th june by Paris MOU. In the meeting various aspect were discussed inlcuding the CIC, focussed inspection, shadow fleet etc.
In the meeting it was confirmed that in 2025 there will be CIC on ballast water management in co-operation with Tokyo MOU.
The CIC is expected to be running from 01st Sep to 30 Nov 2025. Both the Paris and Tokyo MOU shall release official notification for the CIC on first week of August 2025. The checklist for the CIC shall also be released with the official notification.
As per past practice other MOUs shall also be joining the CIC along with Paris & Tokyo MOU.
It is expected that Paris MOU may launch the Focussed inspection campaign on addressing the insurance certificate under CLC underscoring the Committee’s commitment to preventing and mitigating environmental pollution. The concern discussed by the Committee was the increasing number of ships
operating within the so-called “shadow fleet”. Given the inherent limitations of Port State Control in addressing the risks posed by “shadow fleet” ships which often operates with fraudulent registries and do not call to ports in the Paris MoU region, the Committee stressed the urgent need for intensified international cooperation
