The Government of Sint Maarten have advised that:

  1. The Government of Sint Maarten does not issue any Certificate of Competence, Seaman’s book, ships certificates or relevant documents associated with Flag State affairs; and
  2. The Government of Sint Maarten has not mandated seafarer training and certification activities to any third party; and
  3. The Government of Sint Maarten has not given authorization to any recognized organization or persons to work on their behalf.

Netherlands maritime Administration had issued advisory on this and as per the advisory Sint Maarten is an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and does not have a international flag registry. Only the Netherlands and Curacao run an international flag registƌLJ within the Kingdom.

At this time, Sint Maarten is aware of certain websites imposing to be issuing formal Sint Maarten
flag state certificates as below

These websites are fake websites and issues fraudulent Sint Maarten certificates. Sint Maarten has continuously received many inquiries regarding the validity of these documents.
