St Lawrence Seaways Authority Needs to Override EPL as per EEXI

Please be advised that a ship equipped with an Engine Power Limitation (EPL) system or Shaft Power Limitation (ShaPoLi) system shall override the EPL or ShaPoLi system while transiting the Seaway in order to fully comply with Seaway Practices and Procedures no. 35. A ship’s main engine must be in full operating range in the MLO section between calling-in point 2 and Tibbetts Point and in the Welland Canal between calling-in points 15 and 16.
For the initial transit with an EPL or ShaPoLi system in place, the owners/operators must notify the Seaway via email (slsmcmarineservices@seaway.ca) of the following:

1. Power limitation system in place, i.e. EPL or ShaPoLi
2. Confirmation that the EPL or ShaPoLi system will be overridden between calling-in point 2 and Tibbetts Point and calling-in points 15 and 16.
   For subsequent transits, the Seaway Traffic Control Centre may ask for confirmation that the
   EPL or ShaPoLi system is being overridden for transit in the Seaway.
