Hong Kong Spirit Shipping & Trading Ltd has been added to targeted ship management companies after second detention of MSC Samira III.
MSC Samira III was detained by USCG on 9th Jan 2025 and again on 3rd Feb 2025, both a detention in less than 30 days in US waters.
Currently there are total 8 ship management company which are in the list, which have been associated with two or more IMO reportable detentions within the past twelve months. As per USCG website “Operators are considered entities which have assumed the responsibility for all duties and responsibilities imposed by the International Safety Management Code”. But per the information the Hong Kong Spirit Shipping & Trading Ltd is registered owner of the vessel and not the operators of the vessel as per ISM code. The DOC operator of this vessel is MSC Shipmanagement Limited, Cyprus which is already included in the targeted ship managers list of USCG.
The latest detention finding is related to ORB and OWS.
